Nottingham Gurdwara Palki
JOINERY / Nottingham. U.K.
Client: Chartwell Properties
A design for a Palki throne for a Sikh Gurdwara Temple in Nottingham.
The Palki is the focal point in the temple, where the living guru – the Guru Granth Sahib sits (the Sikh holy book). Sermons are given from a priest sat behind the holy book on the Palki. The various tiers separate hierarchies of sacred space; the lowest allows for flowers and donations, the middle for Sikh armory display, the top for the holy book and priest reader.
To be constructed in steel with himax finish and soft padded red velvet cushioning.
